Humm's 100 Millionth Bottle Celebration
There are milestones worth celebrating and there are achievements you get so excited about that you just want to shout it from the rooftops. Lucky for us, this is both!
Last month, we had an enormous achievement from the world of bubbly, gut-loving drinks. Here at Humm, we crafted and bottled our 100 millionth glass bottle of organic, oh-so-good-for-you kombucha right in their very own manufacturing facility!
SO WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?
Let’s rewind a bit.
Picture this: a small kitchen in Bend, Oregon, where two kombucha aficionados, Michelle Mitchell and Jamie Danek, started brewing up their magic back in 2009, under the very fitting name of “Kombucha Mama” (two moms, get it?). Fast forward a few years, and their passion project turned into one of the hottest names in the kombucha game.
From hand delivering jugs of kombucha from a Prius, to becoming a local favorite at farmer’s markets, their journey over the years has been nothing short of incredible. By 2012, the company had upgraded to a full-blown brewing facility and had a team of dedicated folks on board.
THE DECISION TO DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY
But Michelle, Jamie, and our incredible team didn’t stop there. In 2018, we shook up the kombucha scene by introducing a groundbreaking proprietary fermentation process, allowing us to offer our shelf-stable, zero-sugar kombucha in the U.S. which our customers absolutely love.
Today, our bustling Bend facility is home to over 100 passionate employees who whip up an array of low and zero-sugar kombuchas and gut-loving seltzers. And guess what? Our Mango Passionfruit kombucha, our best seller (and for a reason!), snagged the honor of being the 100 millionth bottle to roll off the production line.
WE’RE COUNTING GALLONS BY THE MILLIONS
In 2009, Jamie, Michelle and a few others were hand bottling kombucha in her kitchen to the tune of about 250 gallons per week. In 2012, that rose to almost 8,000 gallons per week and today… we’re making about 70,000 gallons per week. That’s enough kombucha to fill over 10 olympic sized pools a year! This monumental growth would never have been possible without the Bend community, our incredible customers, and the team who make it happen- so we want to thank YOU for your unwavering support of our mission to bring delicious kombucha to the world!
